Healing America’s Veterans through the therapeutic art of fly fishing.
Project Healing Waters helps wounded and disabled Veterans and service members heal through fly fishing, fly tying, rod building, outdoor experiences, mentoring and—just as importantly—the camaraderie that comes from being part of a community again. Founded at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in 2005, the organization provides ongoing, year-round programs designed to foster recovery, resilience, connection and a renewed sense of belonging.
Here in our own community, the Fayetteville Project Healing Waters program serves Veterans in the Fort Bragg area and is led by Program Lead Jon Rouse, connecting local Veterans with instruction, activities, camaraderie, and regular fishing outings.

An enduring promise to the families of America’s Special Operations community.
Special Operations Warrior Foundation traces its beginning to a battlefield promise made after Operation Eagle Claw in 1980, when eight American servicemen were lost and left behind 17 children. That promise has grown into a nationwide commitment to provide surviving children of fallen Special Operations personnel with comprehensive educational support from preschool through college, technical education and the transition into a career.
The Foundation also supports children of active-duty Special Operators who lose a spouse, children of Medal of Honor recipients, and provides immediate financial assistance to severely wounded, ill or injured active-duty Special Operations personnel and their families during hospitalization.
Ensuring Fallen Heroes are never forgotten while helping Veterans fighting the war at home.
Founded by U.S. Marine veteran Korey Shaffer after losing fellow Marines to suicide, Til Valhalla Project is a veteran-owned, mission-driven company that turns remembrance into action. The company creates and surprise-delivers handmade memorial plaques to the families of Fallen Military and First Responders at no cost, ensuring their names, service and sacrifices continue to be remembered for generations.
The mission also works to reduce Veteran suicide by directing a portion of its proceeds toward life-saving therapy for Veterans at high risk. Rather than accepting donations, Til Valhalla Project funds its work through the apparel, memorial products and memberships purchased by its supporters.
Keeping our promise to America’s veterans.
DAV is dedicated to empowering veterans to lead high-quality lives with respect and dignity. The organization provides free professional help accessing earned VA benefits and services, assists with medical transportation and employment, supports veterans transitioning back to civilian life, and advocates for disabled veterans and their families at the national, state and local level.
